Links are one of the most powerful features of RPLAN Connect.
Create a link directly from the timeline by hovering over an object and dragging a connection from one of the black dots on either side of it to another object. And voila!
Why is it helpful to link your tasks?
Links can help you:
- check if you can meet customer deadlines
- work out dependencies between project stages
- understand which preconditions must be met to start work on a task
Keeping track of the dependencies helps you to stay on top of your interconnected tasks in complex projects.
There are two types of links:
When you drag a link from the end to the start of another task, the start time of the successor is dependent on the end of the predecessor. This standard linking behavior links a number of tasks depending on each other.
A manual link specifies a dependency between two tasks, but does not affect the set start or end date of the tasks. If a dependency overlaps in time, the connection line becomes red. To create a manual link, keep
Alt pressed while creating the link, or change the link type in the interface view.
Link multiple tasks using multi-selection
To link multiple tasks you can use multi-selection by select a planning object being the first element of your desired selection and then hold the
cmd button and click on the last object.
