Create a summary task
By nesting a task into another you create a summary task. RPLAN Connect offers different ways to realize that:
- Press the
...button when hovering over the task and click on
move into summary. Your selected task becomes a nested task of a new summary task. Now name the new summary task and you're done.
- You can also nest tasks into already existing ones via drag'n'drop. Move your mouse cursor to the left end of the row. The cursor will change into so you can drag the task from here on. The targeted task you want to drop it in will become the summary task.
Note: The original task's duration will be automatically set to the maximum duration of the tasks it contains. Also, the summary task becomes timeless if it contains a timeless planning object.
By holding the
Alt key when you click the
+ symbol, you can add a nested task at the bottom of the list instead of the top.
Shift summary task in time
The start and end date of a summary task is automatically given by the earliest and latest nested task and thus the duration isn't editable. But you can shift the whole summary task by the week by double clicking the start or end date. A dialog opens and you can choose a desired start or end date on the same day some weeks earlier or later.
Rollup: See contained milestones rolled up to summaries in Gantt chart
Rollups help you to have a better overview of important project milestones. In the Gantt chart milestones will be rolled up to the parent summary task. And you don't need to expand all your subtasks to see them.
